Stalking snakes: Days (and nights) in the life of a Brown Treesnake Rapid Responder

The U.S. Geological Survey, Fort Collins Science Center, leads research on invasive Brown Treesnakes on Guam and a multi-agency a team of snake searchers that work to prevent incursions of this highly invasive snake on other Pacific islands. Read about a year in the life of the Brown Treesnake Rapid Response Team coordinator and the control and containment work research the USGS is doing to counteract further invasions.

Energy, Land Use, and Sagebrush Ecosystems: Finding the Delicate Balance

Understanding the impacts of land use changes and practices on sagebrush ecosystems is crucial as our Nation expands and escalates efforts to develop domestic energy sources. In the face of these changes, there is an immediate and all-pervading need to discover how best to limit the impacts to already compromised, sensitive species and habitats in Wyoming’s wildlife-rich landscape.
